Confirm the scheduler’s timezone before using this expression.

This creates the time fields only. Nothing is scheduled. Add a reviewed command in your own user crontab.

Understand the five generated fields

This builder produces the traditional minute, hour, day-of-month, month and weekday fields. It does not include a command, username or seconds field. Daily at 09:15 becomes 15 9 * * *. Weekly schedules use Sunday as 0 through Saturday as 6.

The description explains a pattern, not a reservation made with a scheduler. The site never installs a crontab, runs a command or keeps a background job alive. A working task still needs an appropriate command and configuration on the machine that will run it.

Minute steps restart at each hour

A minute step selects positions inside every hour. With a step of 45, matches occur at minute 0 and minute 45. The next match after 09:45 is 10:00, just 15 minutes later. This differs from waiting 45 elapsed minutes after every previous run.

Read the listed minutes to check the pattern. A step of 20 gives matches at 00, 20 and 40; a step of 40 gives gaps of 40 and then 20 minutes. Accepted minute steps are whole numbers from 1 through 59.

Worked example*/45 * * * * matches 09:00, 09:45, 10:00 and 10:45 in the scheduler’s applicable timezone.

Check the target calendar and timezone

The server’s cron configuration determines the applicable timezone, including any supported override. Your browser clock does not select it here. Daylight-saving transitions and missed runs while a computer is off depend on the installed scheduler; this tool does not simulate them.

A monthly schedule on day 31 has no match in shorter months. It does not mean the last day of every month. Review the target system’s documentation and confirm a real successful run after configuration, including any output or failure reporting you need.

A few useful answers

Can I paste this into a six-field cron service?

Check that service’s format first. This builder emits five calendar fields with no seconds field; other schedulers can use a different order or additional fields.

Is every 45 minutes an elapsed-time timer?

No. */45 selects minutes 0 and 45 of each hour, leaving a 15-minute gap across an hour boundary.

Does closing this page stop my job?

This page creates no job. It generates an expression; a job configured separately belongs to that scheduler.
