A short promotional price can make a longer commitment look cheaper than it is. This comparison applies the promo rate only to the entered number of months, uses the regular rate afterwards, adds equipment and setup charges, then subtracts a one-time credit.

Total = promo rate × promo months
+ regular rate × remaining months
+ equipment × all months + setup − credit

Example: C$50 for six months, then C$80, with C$60 setup costs C$840 over 12 months. A steady C$65 plan with no setup costs C$780. Over 24 months the totals become C$1,800 and C$1,560. Those are examples, not market offers.

Check the parts a price calculator cannot settle.

Confirm upload speed, data limits, service availability, cancellation charges, minimum terms, equipment returns and whether the regular price can change. Do not add a rental charge twice if the quoted monthly rate already includes it. Taxes are not calculated automatically. A credit larger than all entered charges is rejected rather than displayed as a negative bill.

The tool assumes whole billing months and a single fixed regular rate. It does not model prorating, financing, a second discount period, future price increases or a cancellation fee. Add known one-time charges to setup where appropriate, and keep the assumptions next to the written quote.

Use the internet-plan comparison checklist.

A few useful answers

Are these prices available to buy?

No. The starting values are labelled examples. Use a written quote for your address and the date you intend to start service.

Does the cheaper total mean the better plan?

No. The result compares cost only. Reliability, speed, upload performance, data caps and contract terms can matter more than a small price difference.

Does this apply Canadian sales tax?

No. You can enter tax-inclusive prices yourself, but apply the same approach consistently to both plans and all fees.
